How do they work?
Lipotropics have B12 and t here amino acids that are essential for the health of your liver. Your liver is the organ responsible for removing fat and toxins from your body. When the liver is healthier, it will work better for you. B-12 can give you a great energy boost, which helps burn calories. The B-12 lipotropic shots have amino acids (compounds) that enhance the liver function. B-12 increases the flow of fats from the liver and gallbladder. Note: lipotropic substances decrease fat deposition, thus speeding up the removal of fat within the liver.
M.I.C. B-12: This injection contains Methionine, Inositol, Choline, and Vitamin B-12.
Methionine is one of the sulfur-containing amino acids and is important in many body functions. It acts as a lipotropic agent and has been proven to eliminate excess fat buildup in the liver and the body. It is helpful in relieving and preventing fatigue and may be useful in some cases of allergy because it reduces histamine release.
Inositol, a nutrient belonging to the B vitamin complex, is closely associated with choline. It helps to reduce blood cholesterol and aids in the metabolism of fats. Inositol participates in action of serotonin, a neurotransmitter known to control your mood and appetite.
Choline supports the health of the liver and its ability to process and excrete chemical waste products of the body. Moreover, it is required for the transport and metabolism of fats and cholesterol within the body, which is important for healthy support of the endocrine, cardiovascular and liver systems.
Vitamin B-12 is essential for forming healthy cells in the body. It can also boost energy, which in turn helps increase activity levels.
*If you are sulfa-allergic, we offer a sulfa-free lipotropic without methionine.

HCG as a Dietary aid…What the FDS says:
The FDA has provided its stamp of approval on the use of hCG only as a fertility drug. Aside from fertility, the FDA does not approve hCG use for any other reason, including weight loss.
Dangers of the HCG Diet:
Hillbrook Family Medicine does not prescribe hCG. Losing weight at the rate of a pound a day may sound tempting, but the hCG diet may pose some very serious health risks. Users may report increased incidence of headaches, blood clots, restlessness, leg cramps, constipation, temporary hair thinning, depression, and male breast enlargement. HCG can also cause a potentially life-threatening condition called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), in which ovaries over-stimulated by hormones can swell and leak fluid into the abdomen.
Dangers of very low calorie diets (VLCD) have their own set of side effects. While the amount of calories your body needs depends on how much activity you do every day, most adult women need between 1,800 and 2,400 calories per day, and adult men need 2,000 to 3,000 calories per day. Those trying to lose weight typically eat between 1,200 and 1,500 calories per day. At 500 calories, the hCG diet calls for only a fraction of those requirements.
When you’re on an extremely reduced calorie diet such as the hCG plan, you’re basically starving yourself. By allowing so few calories per day, it can be difficult to meet your daily nutritional needs. You may also experience some not-so-pleasant side effects such as fatigue, nausea, constipation, irritability and diarrhea. Your hair might start falling out. Even worse, you may develop gallstones which could require surgery to correct.
Another problem with severely restricted calorie diets is that once you go off them and start eating a regular amount of calories, you’re bound to regain some of the weight you lost. Your body decreases its metabolic rate because it thought it was starving. Once you start eating again, the body holds on to the calories and the person gains back the weight.
Hillbrook Family Medicine
Although we would like people to have a healthy diet, we realize that they may not always make healthy food choices. We provide tools to counteract bad food choices so that they don’t feel deprived or hungry. Our program allows patients to feel happy and satisfied while losing significant amounts of weight safely and effectively.
We do not incorporate products or regimens that are questionable, not FDA approved or that have not been shown to be effective. We are pleased to partner with a local, top results gym for patients who need an exercise program or require further nutritional guidance.
